As a member of the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für nachhaltiges Bauen e.V.) (DGNB) and the Institut Bauen e.V., we identify ourselves with the guiding principles of sustainable building.
The DGNB has developed its own internationally recognised certification system to make sustainable building practical, measurable and comparable. The independent certification process serves to ensure transparent quality control. Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 150804 provide a basis for assessing the real sustainability of products. For this purpose, the effects on the environment within the framework of the product life cycle, i.e. from production to disposal of the product, are analysed. The origin and nature of the raw materials are taken into account, as are the entire manufacturing process and the energy sources used, transport routes, the service life of the product and its recyclability. The key figures analysed are, for example, the reuse, recovery and recycling potential, but also the global warming potential and the energy recovery possibilities.
