The Cradle - as the name suggests, this innovative building was designed according to the Cradle-to-Cradle® principle. This means that most of the materials used can be fully recycled. Instead of waste, a closed cycle is created in which a lot of things are recycled and reused.
Located in the heart of Düsseldorf's media harbor, The Cradle is characterized by the use of environmentally friendly building materials. The facade is almost entirely made of wood, which comes from sustainable European forestry and replaces conventional materials such as concrete and plastic. The PVC-free carpeting filters fine dust from the air during the day, while the green walls on all floors naturally purify the air. The planted roofs also contribute to improving the climate in the Media Harbor. Only non-toxic materials were used throughout the new building - no components from the “Material Banned List of Chemicals”!
As a member of the German Society for Sustainable Building e.V. (DGNB) and the Institute for Building and Environment e.V., HAFI also identifies with the principle of sustainable building. The doors in the office building can be opened with the HAFI Design 303!
